Doctor of Education Degree (Ed.D.)
You will be well prepared to reach your highest professional ambition with an earned doctorate. The degree will also prepare you for teaching at the college and university level. Most importantly, your ability to be a successful and effective leader in your educational institution and in the field of education will be strengthened.
The Ed.D. program requires the completion of a minimum of 90 semester hours beyond the Bachelor's Degree and a dissertation. Also, you must successfully complete an oral and written comprehensive examination. The dissertation must be completed within four years of the comprehensive oral examination. Curriculum planning worksheets are available below in PDF format. The courses are divided into three categories:
* Area of Specialization: These courses focus on a specialized area of the department. A course plan will be determined by the area of specialization chosen. * General Professional Education: These courses focus on research methods and the foundations of education. * Elective Studies: These courses supplement courses taken in the area of specialization and in the general professional education. Courses can be taken from all departments within the University with approval of the doctoral committee.
