New students begin in first summer session only each year. An online certificate designed to meet the needs of students who have completed a master’s degree in counseling and now desire to become a licensed school counselor in North Carolina. The certificate consists of a minimum of 12-credit hours. Successful completion of the program requirements and passing the PRAXIS II Specialty Area Test for School Counselors will enable the student to be recommended for licensure in school counseling to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).
